Second vessel delivered to U.S. Coast Guard

Under Birdon’s contract with the U.S. Coast Guard, we are refitting 117 Motor Lifeboats (MLBs) that will be used by the USCG all around the U.S.

MLB Hull #47222 is the second boat completed and is currently being transported from Bellingham, WA to Norfolk, VA where it will undergo Acceptance Trials before handover to the USCG.  Once complete, the USCG will deliver the boat to US Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light New Jersey to conduct User Operational Tests during the upcoming 21/22 Surf Season. Hull #47222 was started in spring of 2021 and will be delivered to the East Coast in early December.  Transportation includes trucking to Houston where it will be loaded onto a barge and be transported by sea to Norfolk.

Hull #47240, the third vessel to undergo refit, will also be delivered later this month to US Coast Guard Station Yaquina Bay, Oregon on the West Coast.  This hull will also undergo surf season testing by the USCG.
