Michael Wright is a strategic and driven executive with more than 30 years of experience in leading multinational businesses across multiple sectors and industries, including mining and mineral processing, civil engineering and construction, utility operations and environmental services. A highly regarded leader with experience across multidisciplinary projects in Australia, Asia, Africa and the Americas.

 Michael is the current Executive Chair and CEO of Thiess and is leading the company through significant change. From 2017 to 2020, Michael was CEO of CIMIC Group which owns some of Australia’s largest contractors including CPB Contractors, Leightons, Thiess, Sedgmen, UGL and Broad Constructions. Beyond Michael’s current roles at Theiss and CIMIC, Michael has been the Executive Chair Sedgman; Managing Director Thiess; Executive General Manager of Thiess Australian Mining; Executive General Manager of Thiess Services (now Ventia); and General Manager China & Mongolia of Leighton Asia. In addition to his Advisory Board role at Birdon, Michael holds board roles at ADBRI, Minerals Council of Australia and International River Foundation.
