Jamie Bruce has grown Birdon from a regional Australian SME, to an international defence prime contractor. Under Jamie’s leadership, Birdon has achieved 32.6% compound annual growth sustained over the past 6 years.  

Jamie’s vision and drive has seen Birdon continue to build on its Australian business roots, securing major contracts directly with the US Army, US Coast Guard (USCG), and the US Navy, along with other international defence forces. 

After completing his apprenticeship as a Diesel Fitter with Cummins Engine Company in 1997, Jamie commenced employment with Birdon, the family business. In ensuing years, Jamie worked across each division of the business, from marine projects to dredging projects throughout Australia, developing his own leadership style, characterised by hard work, determination, and an ability to inspire creative thinking in expanding his team. 

In 2008, Jamie became the major shareholder and CEO of Birdon. With guidance from Birdon’s Advisory Board, he developed and implemented key long-term strategies resulting in international expansion and the sustained growth of the Birdon Group. 

Jamie is also the foundation trustee of the Jim Bruce Urology and Prostate Cancer Trust, and as a proud supporter of the NSW Marine Rescue and Port Macquarie Surf Life Saving Club.
