Alan Dowd has been a member of the Birdon team since 2019 and is now stepping into the role of Shipyard Manager – Port Macquarie.
Alan has over 30 years’ experience managing complex marine projects around the world. Beginning his career as a naval architect, Alan has a passion for the marine industry and has worked as a project manager for Austal Ships and as design manager for Riviera Marine International. Prior to joining Birdon, Alan worked in Dubai managing advanced composite component manufacturing across the architectural, marine, rail, aerospace, and automotive sectors.
For the past two years, Alan has been the On-Site Project Manager for the Sydney Ferry Procurement Project during which time he worked in China and Port Macquarie. In this role Alan was responsible for the construction and delivery of 3 x 35m ferries for Transdev Sydney Ferries on behalf of TfNSW.

In his new role, Alan will oversee all marine operations in NSW. With a growing pipeline of projects earmarked for Port Macquarie, we wish Alan all the best in this role and look forward to getting stuck into some new and exciting marine projects.
