JIM COLE

General Manager Environment

Jim Cole is an accomplished Environmental Engineer and Executive who currently serves as the General Manager of Birdon’s Environment Division. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management/Environmental Engineering and has more than 20 years experience in design, construction and operations.

Jim’s vast experience in construction encompasses all areas, including regulatory planning, permitting, and delivery. He is highly knowledgeable in the decommissioning, remediation, and marine sectors throughout Australia, North America and Asia. Jim’s expertise allow him to navigate complex regulatory frameworks and identify innovative solutions for his clients, delivering successful project outcomes.

Before joining Birdon, Jim served as the leader of Thiess/Ventia Environmental Division for 8 years. During his 15-year tenure with the company, he successfully delivered multiple large-scale and complex environmental projects throughout Australia, including the Hunter River Remediation Project, the Barangaroo Remediation Project, and the Remediation of the former HMAS Platypus site. Jim’s expertise and innovative approach also enabled him to spearhead the research and implementation of state of the art technologies, such as soil washing, in-situ stabilisation of marine sediments, and thermal treatment of various types of waste.
