Birdon successfully completed the salvage and disposal of vessel “Awesome” in Sydney Harbour for Transport for NSW. The vessel was 24m long, 5m wide and weighed 33T.
Birdon worked closely with Subsea Works and Marina Bayside to ensure this project was completed safely and efficiently.
Vessel “Awesome” was located on a mooring in Sydney Harbour in a completely submerged condition. We were able to float the vessel, with the help of three salvage pumps, over a period of approximately six hours. Once it was safe to do so, we moved the vessel to Marina Bayside and used their travel lift to remove the vessel from the water.
Our team closely monitored the vessel overnight, ensuring that water was pumped out continually so that the vessel did not re-sink.
After removal from the water Birdon’s disposal team used the Marina Bayside facility to safely deconstruct and dispose of the vessel.
