The Hon. Andrew Constance MP announced over the weekend that Birdon is building two new firefighting vessels for the Port Authority of New South Wales.
The award of this contract to Birdon is a win for regional NSW and is testament to the expertise of our engineering team and capability of our tradespeople in Port Macquarie.
“The new vessels have been designed in consultation with operational staff, and will be faster, have improved manoeuvrability and have better access to shallow areas for firefighting operations and incident response,” Mr Constance said.
These vessels will be built at our shipyard in Port Macquarie and will create jobs for 40 Birdon staff members, as well as an additional 20 subcontractors.
The announcement from Minister Constance was published in this Sydney Morning Herald article.
