To celebrate the beginning of the New Year and new decade, our team in the US took part in the annual Evergreen Lake Plunge. Participants made the plunge into a hole cut in the frozen lake on New Year’s Day when the temperature was -3 degrees Celsius (colder with a wind chill factor).
The Lake Plunge is a fundraiser for Active 4 All and money raised is donated to the Inspire Program to help fund inclusive recreational experiences for students with disabilities in Colorado.
For those not familiar with the area, Evergreen is located on the way to the ski fields in the mountains outside of Denver, Colorado. Â The event is supported by the local water rescue team from Evergreen Fire Rescue.
In true Aussie style, Brett (the ringleader) and Benny stepped up to the challenge alongside seasoned professionals Joe, JD and Mike from our US team. They were all supported by Geno, Gabe and Tina.
We are told it was a fun (but freezing) morning and we’re very pleased to be able to share photo evidence of the plunge below.
A great effort from all of the Birdon team – Aussies and Americans. We look forward to seeing even more of you take on the challenge in 2021… Jim Ducker, you’re up.
